Focus Group Questionnaire
We are conducting a series of focus groups and interviews as part of the Echoes of Freedom Reclaiming Haitian Anthem initiative, which explores the history, meaning, and future of the Haitian national anthem. This work is grounded in cultural reclamation, community memory, and artistic expression. Through these conversations, we hope to learn how people connect to the anthem whether through music, history, language, or lived experience and how it might be reimagined in today’s context.
We’re especially interested in hearing from Haitian community members, artists, musicians, and youth.
Your insights will help us better understand collective memory, cultural pride, and ideas for reclaiming the anthem’s power and presence today.
Each focus group will last between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the number of attendees and depth of discussion. We’ll guide the conversation with a set of open-ended questions, which we’ll send you ahead of time.
Focus group dates and locations are listed below. We’ll set the exact times based on what works best for participants. To help us choose a time, please fill out the poll linked under the session you plan to attend. We’ll follow up with confirmed meeting times and an RSVP form.
All feedback will be anonymous and confidential. Nothing you say will be attributed to you personally in any public materials. You will receive OUR APPRECIATION for your time.
If you’d prefer a one-on-one interview (30–60 minutes), we’re happy to schedule that instead.Interviews can be in-person, by phone, or online (Zoom).
Please reach out if you have any questions we’d love to hear from you and include your voice in this work.
